Mystery and Shock

Contemporary photo of an aged Vietnam veteran.

My story is short. Eighteen years old, 1965, October, USMC bootcamp, LBJ's buildup to staff the war. Landed in Da Nang city on Easter, April, 1966. Thirteen months of living hell in the heat, monsoon, and jungle. May 1967, landed back in the "World" in San Francisco, Treasure Island. Rotten tomatoes flying and screaming idiot protest. Shamed and to never look back, memory repressed, fifty two years ago..... Life and misery carried on.
