A Minnesota PBS Initiative

A first

One night in May or June of 72, my buddy and I saw a lone huey flying low above us. Markings were ARMY on it which seemed weird because there were mostly Marine and Navy aircraft where we were. (Quang Tri)

He fired a lone rocket which as soon as it left the tube it went everywhere. My buddy mentioned there goes tax payers money when as it got to the tree line it straighten out went into the jungle and boom!

Biggest orange ball I ever saw went high in the sky! Didn't know it at the time but they were testing a TOW rocket. Once the pilot found a target he moved it over and wham! Kinda cool.
