Xay Tou Heu and his elephant.

Sepia toned photo of young Asian soldier in uniform, posing with a baby elephant.

Xay Tou Heu and his baby elephant.

In this picture is my late grandfather Xay Tou Heu.

Like many other Hmong veterans, he was recruited by the CIA to fight and combat Communism in his home country of Laos. He held the rank of a Captain (CPT).

His troops found this orphan baby elephant and presented this elephant as a gift. He did everything he could to raise and feed his baby elephant. Due to the lack of resources and milk to care for the baby elephant, the baby elephant died.
