We Were In Very Bad Places

This video was captured by the Twin Cities PBS Minnesota Remembers Vietnam team in Bloomington, MN at a national 1st Battalion, 1st Marines reunion in August 2017.

I want people to be aware of not only the war that we went through, but the horrors that we came home to.

While serving in the Marine Corps with the 1st Battalion, Joseph Verdun saw a lot of action in a lot of places that he calls "hell on earth." Despite this hell, Joseph recalls that coming home was hard, too--he was ashamed to admit he was a veteran because of the US political climate at the time, and he later developed PTSD.
