Shiny boxes

Our squadron, VAP.61, was directly across the runways from the area where aluminum caskets of dead soldiers were stacked for shipment back home. Each day the caskets were lined up in rows, stacked 3 - 4 high, until they were loaded on planes and taken away. Then new caskets appeared, piled up for another week or so, loaded up and shipped out. You couldn’t miss seeing the caskets because they reflected the sunlight. It seemed like there was never an end to the caskets that stacked up, day in -day out. This was at the Danang air base in 1968 & 1969.
