RMKBRJ Employee 1966-1967

I am a Korean War vet, and I was wondering if it would add a bit of interest to the Ken Burns Special on the Vietnam War during that conflict.

U.S. civilian standing in front of a U.S. Navy truck, possibly a cement truck.

We had an 18 month contract that when fulfilled made us exempt from taxes and we were awarded a 13% bonus on all of our accumulated earnings. The wages were not great and where about in line with union wages in Minneapolis MN, but we had assurance of 18 months steady work along with room an board.

I was a concrete Gen. Foreman and involved in repairing and replacing blown bridges in the I-Corp area where we also worked on expanding the DaNang Air Base, Constructed deep water docking facilities, and during a slow time I assisted in constructing a two stall restroom in downtown DaNang. Talk about diversity.

We in no way had anything to do with the hostilities and depended on the military for our protection which was 100% effective. I felt safe at all times. I understand that this may not add anything to the project you are promoting and perhaps it should not be of interest. Foley MN. post #0298
