To me Vietnam extends far past the dates in country. Those troops were exposed to some of the harshest climates, chemicals, and fought a fearless opponent.

Their return as we all know was the darkest moment in our nations history and yet they continued to rise above public opinion to show that they were exceptional citizens, made advances in technology, science and medicine as it relates to military research. Vietnam Veterans are the single reason “my” generation has these incredible benefits, welcome home ceremonies, and a community that appreciates the sacrifices made in battle.

How did the Vietnam War impact my life? I was raised with discipline, encouraged military service, took my father away from me way too early, and motivates me to advocate for them on daily basis so that they all can be welcomed home and shown the same love that I was.
