My Dad my Hero

I was only 4 months old when my Dad, 1st LT. David Nolan, made the ultimate sacrifice on August 15th, 1967. He left behind a wife and four children, like so many other families, the War changed us forever.

I didnt know a lot about my Dad but always said I would find the guys that fought with him. As I came into my 30's, I found one guy that was in OCS with my dad and asked if he knew how I could get in touch with others that knew him. He helped me find the 69th Armor Division website and that opened the door to the men that were at his side the minute he died. He was a Tank Commander and Platoon Leader, something I didn't know. I received pictures that my mom never saw.

Contemporary photo of four people standing behind a white marble tombstone decorated with a miniature American flag, teddy bear in uniform, red carnations.

Honoring my Dad after 50 years with the men that were there at Ft. Snelling Cemetery 8.15.2017.

My heart has been getting filled with the love his men have shown me and my mom. Their priceless gifts of memories, tragedy, and stories they have all shared, I know he is smiling down from Heaven and proud of them for letting me be a part of their lives.

I lost my Dad but have gained 5 other men that I am honored to call "Dad". I am so proud of my Dad and all the guys, they have forever changed my life and my Mom's too! We even went to DC and found him at Panel 24E Line 115. I will forever be grateful and try to honor ALL Vets the best I know how!

Thank you to all the Vets that have served and to all of those that are serving! With love and honor from a Goldstar Family!
