Due to having nearly two years of college under his belt, John Christianson was eventually reassigned from his initial post operating heavy machinery at Whiskey Mountain to the rear. He wasn't in the middle of combat, but he did feel like he provided a service.

My time in the service fortunately wasn't one like a lot of people have out there... but I was doing good.
