I Wasn't About to Miss That Plane

Dave Borton didn't re-register for college in time after finishing his second year, so he got drafted and served what he calls a long four years. He recalls the joy of getting on his "freedom bird" flight home, but also the hostility of coming back to a divided country.

This story was captured with the help of TPT's Minnesota Remembers Vietnam team.

They weren't going home that day, but I sure was. That was the happiest day of my life.
